Drill Press Safety

The drill pressís height can be adjusted so the correct depth of hole can be obtained. The crank to the right of the drill presses can be raised or lowered until the proper height is obtained. (Picture to the right).

Failure to adjust the drill press to the proper heights could damage the machine or the drill bit. The picture to the right is the results of the drill press table being set to high, the drill bit hits the clamps. Alternatively, offset the material to prevent the drill bit from coming in contact with the drill press vise.

Use the crank to the top right of the drill press (shown right) to lower the drill bit into the material.   When turned counterclockwise the drill press is brought downwards toward the material.  Grip the handle securely to prevent it from slipping out of your grasp while drilling.
